Rev Tim Clarke was inducted as Minister of Wallington URC in June 2014, and also serves as Ecumenical Officer for the URC Southern Synod's South London Area (West).
Brought up in south Devon, where he served for two years as District Youth Secretary for the URC Torbay District, Tim Clarke initially worked as an accountant, before studying Theology at Mansfield College, Oxford. He was ordained as a URC minister in 1996, initially inducted as Minister of Over & Winsford URC in the Cheshire District. In 2001, he moved to a part-time post as District Minister in the URC Staffordshire District, spending a year as part of the Methodist circuit in Stafford and taking a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Theological Studies at the Queen's Foundation, Birmingham.
In 2003, Tim moved to become Community Minister at Hyson Green & Forest Fields in Nottingham, under a five-year posting as a Special Category Ministry with oversight of the inner-city Boulevard URC. During this time he studied for ThD in Applied Theological Studies on the theme of Mission & Accompaniment, leading to an MPhil from the University of Birmingham. In 2007-08, he also served as Executive Director of the ecumenical East Midlands Churches Forum.
Between 2008 and 2014, Tim served as Minister at Rectory Road URC, Stoke Newington, and Claremont URC, Islington, in the Islington and Stoke Newington Area of Shared Ministry. He was a Trustee of the Claremont Project charity and also acted as URC Ecumenical Borough Dean for Islington. He convened the Lea Valley Area Committee for the URC's Thames North Synod, and the Steering Group of the Urban URC Network. Nationally, he serves on the URC/Methodist Church Interfaith Reference Group.
